Cherie's Brownies,
Inc. was founded in 1994 when Perry Krauss, the president and CEO, decided he wanted to embark on a new adventure following
years in the television industry. After producing such television classics as "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" and "Barney
Miller," Perry decided it was time to take the advice of hundreds of family members, friends and bake-sale customers,
and Cherie's Brownies was born.
Perry's wife, Cherie--a fourth-grade teacher, had been baking her brownies for
years for family events and social gatherings. Friends of the Krauss children always wanted to play at their house because
the treats were the best. Only in Calabasas, CA did 8-year-olds pass up entire school bake sales if a particular brownie was
not on the table.
After years of people telling Cherie she needed to sell her brownies, Perry finally saw the opportunity
to launch the business. Cherie's Brownies began with a constant flow of chocolate through the Krauss' kitchen. Recipes for
new flavors were carefully developed until demand was too great to keep up in their own kitchen. Baking duties were delegated
to a bakery with larger capacity, and Cherie's Brownies was on its way.
Today, Cherie's Brownies are distributed
nationally, regionally and locally, and can be found in most venues catering to the most discriminating
palates.
